Dark night of the soul, indeed, Steve. Most people, decent at their core, could not accept the treachery of those who rule over us. Hence, they put it out of their minds and go about their daily business. I made these observations in a recent post of mine:
A few days after the 9/11 attacks, I heard a caller on talk radio say that "maybe our own government was behind this?" The radio host swore and hung up on the guy. I, too, was incredulous that someone could suggest such a thing, killing thousands of our own citizens.
With the Iraq war of 2003 came the continuous bleat of "weapons of mass destruction." I started reading alternative media about these bogus claims. That led me "down a rabbit hole."
From 2003 to 2013, I followed many discussion groups and alternative news sources on what were called "conspiracy theories." I analyzed the arguments of the debunkers and then the debunkers of the debunkers. My own early idealistic upbringing would not let me accept the depth of treachery I discovered about false flags and other covert actions. After ten years of reading and research, I reluctantly came to the conclusion that many, perhaps most of these "conspiracy theories" had validity.
Ten years of study and I became absolutely convinced of the falsity of the 9/11 official narrative.
My sense of betrayal at the depths of treachery by my/our "leaders" has left me with an embittered heartbreak that haunts me to this day.

You are absolutely correct that the disinterest of the propagandized public is a major hurdle to be overcome.
Re Pearl Harbour. If you dig deep you'll find that FDR, or the powers above, orchestrated the whole thing. They squeezed Japan with blockades so they were running out of essential imports, notably oil, to keep their economy going. The Emperor's advisors told him to attack America. Among other things, honour required it. The bully always wants the weakling to hit back.
Yes 9/11 was my big wake-up. Likewise, I was lefty, hippy, anti-war. But I had no idea of the depth or depravity, or indeed the occult forces running the world. Controlling both sides from above and then sheer audacity of killing 3000 of your own people to get onside with invading Afghanistan and Iraq.
Twenty years later I'm left with smouldering rage.
Steve, this is a fantastic piece of writing, and it's always a relief when someone with open eyes and sublime eloquence goes gracefully on a rant and clarifies the scene.

The bastards are not going to get away with this.
